Spotify not playing local files when HD disconnected

Spotify not playing local files when HD disconnected

I have an external HD with all my iTunes music library. Spotify is aware of the library. When I try to reproduce (from Spotify) a song that I have in my iTunes library, with my HD disconnected, the song won't simply start, even though the song is available through Spotify. It stays stuck as in the attached screenshot: Spotify shows it's playing, but the times remains on 0:00. I'm using Spotify (premium account) on a early 2014 macbook air 13", with OS X Yosemite (10.10.3). The Spotify version I'm running is 1.0.3.101.gbfa97dfe

You are not alone in this scenario.

 

I too am encountering this problem although mine is slightly different, i believe that the root cause for both of us is the same since we are both experienceing the same issue.

 

First of all, I dont have any local files on my computer nor have I used any local files on spotify.

 

I recently, after the last update, have noticed that my playlists (yes it happens to me in defferent playlists) only certain songs will not play. The play symbol will be active but the timer will remain at 0:00 as shown in the attachments below.

 

Not only does it not play certain songs from my playlists, It also wont play the same songs when I search them through spotify search and locate them on the server listings. You can see in the attachments that I tried to play the same song from the playlist as well as from the spotify search. 

 

Neither attempts worked. Most of my songs work fine but its only these random songs in each of my playlists that seem to not work all of a sudden.

 

My guess is that it is a bug in the last update. This is a problem that I am experienceing across my windows and android platforms...

Toshiba Satelite P55t-B (Lap Top)

Windows 8.1 Pro (64 Bit)

Intel Core (TM) i7 - 4710HQ

AMD Radeon R9 M265x Graphics

 

My Phone is running:

Android Version 4.4.2

Spotify Version 2.6.0.813

 

My home PC is running:

Windows 8.1 Pro (64-Bit)

12.0 GB RAM

I'm sorry, but the problem is still present. I am completely unable to reproduce music available through spotify but which I have in my iTunes library. Is there any way to directly contact support for this issue?
