Spotify replaces tracks

Spotify replaces tracks

Hello!

I have seen that many others are experiencing the same as me, but I haven't seen any sort of explanation or solution yet. I have also asked a few of my friends, and everyone I have asked have experienced it on at least one occasion.

The issue is basically that some tracks in my playlists get replaced with other versions of the same song, completely without any notice and without my consent. Usually this is just a change from a studio version to a live version, or from an extended mix to a radio mix, but sometimes they change from the original performer to a tribute band or a karaoke version.

Today, I sat in my car and was looking forward to hearing the fantastic bass of Black Eyed Peas' 'Where Is The Love?". I turned the volume up to max and got ready for the good feeling, and then this hit my eardrum:

https://open.spotify.com/track/4DH9KwQ31wVFUsNFM47bEb (wait for the vocal...)

I mean ... No, I don't even know what to say. Why am I given this instead of the original? I don't understand it. Can someone please tell me why -- and if it is an error, how can I fix it?

This occurs on all devices.

Thanks in advance for any replies! 🙂

Daniel

I've had this happen before as well, and my understanding is that sometimes certain versions get pulled from Spotify and instead of entirely removing the song from your playlist it just replaces it with whatever it sees as being the closest suitable replacement. I think. I'm really not sure about this, but given my experiences I believe that's what's happening. Usually by seraching for the song again I can find a version that's close if not the same as the one I originally had.

Thank you for replying. 🙂

Every time it has happened, including now, I have found the original song again and added to the playlist. So it's not really that big of a deal. But it feels so unnecessary to do this extra work. I'd like to know if this is something that Spotify does on purpose, or if it is some sort of glitch. It seems so weird to me.

Any input is appreciated. 🙂

Thanks!

Daniel
