Spotify stopped finding tracks in local files after switching to a new computer

Spotify stopped finding tracks in local files after switching to a new computer

Spotify stopped finding tracks in local files after switching to a new computer. Although it continues to show and play local tracks added before the transition.

I tried the solutions indicated on this resource but nothing helped. Local tracks are very important to me, if the problem is not resolved, unfortunately I will have to migrate to apple music. In apple, working with local files is more transparent.

Hey @StrongTequila,

Thanks for your post in the Community!

We'd recommend you run a clean reinstall of the Spotify app, following this Guide

Note that not all features might work on computers with the M1 architecture, as the app has not been released natively for the M1 yet.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Yes, I deleted all spotify related files. Including the program itself, database, preferences, logs, temporary files, caches. And for one thing all the temporary files of the computer. After that spotify started working normally with local files.
One more tip. Some local files work fine in spotify on the computer. At the same time, on the iPhone, they are only visible but do not play, and you cannot even select them. These files are in a format other than mp3, aiff or other highrez

Hi there @StrongTequila,

Thank you for your reply.

To sync local files from one device to another, you must be actively logged in to both devices with Spotify open and on the same network

Local files can be turned on/off in the Settings menu.

Can you double-check that you've followed all of the support site steps correctly.

It's also useful to double-check that you have connected both devices to the same Wi-Fi.

Another useful step is to change the source folder of the local files on the pc. The steps are: Uninstall Spotify on both devices > create a new folder somewhere else on the pc and move the local files there > install Spotify again > remove any potential source folders and add the new one > download the playlist again.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Synchronization works, everything is ok. I only noticed that spotify on the computer can play aiff files but not on the iPhone

Hey @StrongTequila,

Thanks for getting back to us and sorry for the confusion.

Please note that aiff files are not officially supported for the Local files feature - because of this issues with their use is expected behavior. You can find a list of all currently supported file formats here. It seems however that other users also requested this to be changed and posted this idea. We recommend that you +VOTE it to show your support. We'll share any updates on the matter there, as soon as there are any, so it's worthwhile that you also subscribe.

Hope this shines a bit of light on the matter. We'll be here if you have any other questions.
