My Question or Issue

Hi, I'm having some problems with syncing between mac and iphone.

I have some songs stored as local files on my mac, and I created a playlist using these songs. I can play them from both the "local files" folder and the playlist without a problem on my mac.

Then I synced the songs to my iphone following the instructions (1. connect my iphone to mac using usb; 2. sync music library to iphone 3. enable local files on iphone). The sync is successful and I can play the songs on iphone from the "local" files folder in spotify without a problem.

However, when I try to open them from the playlist on iphone, some songs are greyed out, meaning they are not available on my phone, while others are identified as the same in local files and hence playable.

What is happening here? Why are some files identified as "downloaded" / "local" on my iphone but not others when I try to play them from the playlist? What can I do to make them all available?

Thanks!

Hey @lololol12321,

Thanks for reaching out!

Could you confirm that the greyed out files appear in the Local files folder on your iPhone? If not, try uploading them to your device again by following the steps in this article.

Something else you can try is removing the current instances of the greyed out songs from the playlist and adding them again to force a resync.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Yordan,

Thanks for trying to help! I've figured it out by myself. The sync problem seems to arise from the fact that I didn't store the files in my Spotify folder on iphone but in Apple Library through syncing music instead. I've deleted everything and copied and pasted the music files in my Spotify folder and they are finally correctly identified
