can't change order of tracks in playlist

Solved!

can't change order of tracks in playlist

I suddenly cannot change the order of songs in a playlist. Every time I try to drag the track it tries to re-add it to the playlist - and says it is already in the playlist. Clicking on the three dots for the playlist does not bring up an edit menu (only edit details)

Hey @WJL

Changing the order of songs in the desktop app works a little differently than the mobile app. In the mobile app there is a menu option to enter "edit mode" to change the song order in the playlist. In the desktop app, instead this is done by making sure the playlist is in the "Customer Order" sort order so that you can drag and change the order of the songs.

Here are some steps to follow that should help you get back to being able to change the order of songs in a playlist:

  1. Go to a playlist in the desktop app
  2. Look to the top right of the playlist and you will see a search icon and a sorting drop down menu
  3. Click on the sorting drop down menu and then click on "Custom Order" under "Sort by"
  4. Now that you have clicked on "Custom Order" for the sort order, you should now be able to drag and change the order of the songs in the playlist agan.

Note: If you are using the Web Player at open.spotify.com in the web browser, by default the "Custom Order" will be shown. You can start dragging the songs to a different order right away. Right now the option menu to change the sort order of a playlist is only available in the desktop and mobile apps.

Hopefully this works for you! Let me know how it goes.
