my bluetooth headphones are connected, but music wont play in my headphones

i connected my wireless headphones (beats studio pro) to my laptop, but when i press play in spotify, it starts playing through my laptop speakers and not my headphones. it still says i'm connected to my headphones though.

Does this only happen when you try to play music from Spotify or regardless of the source on your MacBook and did you notice when the behavior started for the first time? Is it not working only with these specific headphones?

If not only Spotify is affected then there might be a simple solution to this and it's to change the audio output. If you've not done this already I recommend taking a look at the steps here.

On another note, if only Spotify is affected you can perform a clean reinstall to help resolve different performance issues, which will also ensure that you're running the newest app version.
