My Question or Issue
Last days was trying to login at the Desktop Spotify program but i got this :
The username or password is incorrect. (Error code:auth:2)
I tried uninstalled and reinstall the program but the problem persists.
The proxy settings are at none proxy.
I got an email promed me to reset the password which i did 2 or 3 times but no luck.
With the same username/password i can login at the web interface of Spotify and also at mobile phone which runs Android.
Any help is appreciated.

The desktop app is no longer supported on that version of Windows, I'm afraid. You'll find a list of all supported devices for Spotify here.
In the meantime, you can still use the Web Player.

Thanks for your reply that clears things up.
I would suggest that the error code that pops when trying to login should be something about the unsupported version of windows and not that the credentials are incorrect.
Also when someones trying to login several times then the password is locked and you are prompt to reset it or it resets automatically which is frustrating cause you have to update the password to all devices you may have installed Spotify.

I had the same problem. I connected my Google account and logged in from there and it was fixed.
Same issue. I have Premium. Can't login on Win8: "Wrong username/email or password", while I use Spotify on Win10/11 and iOS.
I've tried once again and it appears I couldn't log into Spotify even on the browsers under Windows 8. So, I can't use Spotify on Win8 at all.
Hello Yordan, but when I use the Chrome browser’s web player to play music, many songs either won’t play at all or stop making sound after about 10 seconds. However, when I play videos on other websites, the sound continues. Could this be a problem related to the browser?
