My Question or Issue

I created a 1600x1600 png to use as album art for my local files, but the quality of the image compresses horribly. What's up with that? I'll attach a screenshot of the art in the desktop app as well as the original image. The details from the original are completely lost.

Hey @jxbrdy,

Thanks for reaching out.

We understand that this isn't ideal, but since album cover images are compressed to improve performance, what you're seeing is expected behavior. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback here on the Community and we'll make sure to forward it to the right team.

We're here for you if you have any other questions.

When you say, "...album cover images are compressed to improve performance..." do you mean performance on a local end (my computer) or server-side performance? I don't think my PC would have any problem loading 1600x1600 .pngs, and since local files are taken directly from my computer, I'm struggling to understand how there could be a server-side issue. I understand there's probably no reason for Spotify to fix this issue, so an explanation would definitely help me out. I appreciate your initial response, but I'm still a bit lost. Thank you!
