My Liked Songs playlist is buggy, trying to export list of songs in playlist

My Liked Songs playlist is buggy, trying to export list of songs in playlist

My Liked Songs playlist has always been a bit buggy, takes ages to load on Windows, and have to wait quite a while for the playlist to load to play from it on Android. I think it's because I have 16,500 liked songs. The specific issue here is I wanted to use Exportify to get a list of all my liked songs. As the liked playlist isn't public I tried saving all my liked songs to a playlist and exporting, but when I select all and add I get an error and the songs don't add. I tried selecting only 8000 but then only 2000 were added, tried 1000 and only 200 were added. Wondering if there's any solution here?

Oh and I have also requested all my data from Spotify, not sure if that includes a list of liked songs, will find out when I get the email I guess.

Also tried selecting all the liked songs then slowly scrolling through the playlist to confirm all the songs were loaded and selected, but still when I try to add all the songs I get an error and nothing gets added.

I found a spotify backup python script on Github that can export the liked songs playlist, but when I run it I get the following error multiple times: [01:19:32] Couldn't load URL: https://api.spotify.com/v1/users/1231031311/tracks?limit=50 (HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error).

Is there just an issue with the spotify server itself that causes it to have issues when someone has a lot of songs in their liked songs playlist?

Hey @Skwisgaar,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

Having over 10 000 songs in any playlist (including the Liked Songs) might interfere with the app's performance on your device. Even though there is no concrete limit to amount of tracks in that playlist, if it passed 10000 songs, the app can't update data in real time reliably and issues like this start to happen.

We usually recommend to split the songs out in smaller playlists, this would make it easier.

We’re always working on possible advancements and new features, including improving functions with bigger playlists.

We also appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and we'll make sure to pass it onto the right team, as we always strive to improve your experience.

Hopefully you'll see if it gets improved soon but we can't give you an exact time frame for this.

Cheers!

Hey Lyubka,

Thanks for the reply. I did expect that it was the size of the playlist causing the issue. I've used Spotify very heavily for over a decade now and have liked songs as I've gone as I want to keep track of all the songs I come across, so my liked playlist has naturally increased to quite a large number. As it's not a manual playlist I can't split this out or reduce the size of the playlist without unliking songs, which isn't really an option for me as it defeats the purpose of how I use liking songs in Spotify. It would be good if this was something that could be looked in to, as I'm surely not the only one with a large liked songs playlist. Is there somewhere else I should post this issue for it to be looked at?

Hey @Skwisgaar,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We will pass on this information to our developers to have a further look into this.

In the meantime, please make sure to keep your app up to date with the latest version, so you don't miss out on any important fixes or features.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂
