No more warning when adding duplicate songs

No more warning when adding duplicate songs

I used to get a warning when adding duplicate songs. This is no longer displayed in the Windows app. Unfortunately, I can't find a setting to reactivate this.
Is this a bug or Works as Designed?

Hey @Vossy1995,

Thanks for posting on the Community!

Hope you don't mind us moving your post, as it fits better here. A popup message that the song already is in the playlist should appear if you're using the desktop.

Just to check, does clearing stored cache make any difference? Once it's done, try signing out from the app and back in again. Completing these actions should resync your account info.

Another option is to try a clean reinstall, as this will clear cache too, as well as make sure that you're running the latest version.

If that doesn't do the trick, can you let us know the model and operating system version of your device, along with the Spotify version?

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Maria, I have uninstalled the app and also deleted the registration. The message only appears when I go to the search and click on "Add to playlist". However, if I use the "Find more" function directly in the playlist, the message does not appear.

Hi there @Vossy1995,

Thanks for the reply. Is this only on the desktop app? Is this with all playlists? If you haven't already, try using the webplayer on the same device and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello Joan,
No, also in the web player. The function is not available in the Andorid app and therefore cannot be tested.
Yes, it is the case for all playlists.

It's about the function directly in the playlist.

Go to a playlist > click on "Find more" at the bottom right > now enter an existing song in the search field = no message.

Thanks for the additional info @Vossy1995!

Our tech folks will look further into this. In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

The Community's always here if there's anything else we can assist with.

Cheers 🙂
