My Question or Issue

Every time I try logging in on my home pc, the desktop app sends me to the website as it should, but the website never loads. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify, I've tried setting 4 different browsers as my default, I've tried incognito tabs, and I've tried clearing the cache and cookies on each of the aforementioned browsers. I don't have any VPNs or ad blockers running and I checked my internet and it's working just fine. There's no option to log in on the desktop app either and when I try to just log in on the web browsers, I run into the same issue as if I was trying to log in from the desktop app. There's no error code, it's just a black screen. Is there something else I can do to fix the problem or am I just kinda stuck till whateverโ€™s causing this gets fixed?

Hey there folks,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you check if you notice any difference when using another internet connection? For example - you can try with another WiFi, or you can create a hot spot on your phone and temporarily connect your PC.

It's worth giving the troubleshooting steps mentioned by @DarkR3v3lry (kudos for trying them!) a shot as well, if you haven't already:

  • Clear cache & cookies from your browser.
  • Try changing the default browser.
  • Open the Web Player in an incognito window.
  • Make sure VPN is switched off.

We can also suggest the following steps:

  • Check if Spotify is allowed via the Firewall.
  • Temporarily disable your antivirus app & Windows Firewall.
  • Restart your router.
  • Try logging in directly to the Spotify account page, to see if you experience the same thing.

Keep us posted on how you get on!

-Turned off firewall, no dice

-Restarted the router, still nothing

-I canโ€™t even get to the login screen to login. As much as Iโ€™d love to try signing into a different Spotify account but I canโ€™t even get to the sign in screen.

Hey @DarkR3v3lry,

Thanks for clarifying!

Are you able to sign in to the account page? If so, could you check if you can access the Web Player through that page? It should appear at the bottom of the page, under Useful links ๐Ÿ™‚

If this workaround doesn't do the trick or should the issue persist, could you let us know if you tried again connected to a mobile network or if it was another WiFi? Also, do you see if there's an update available for your device's operating system?

Cheers!

Still nothing, just a black loading screen. Tried switching networks including an hotspot and my operating system is up to date.

Hey there,

thanks for giving it a shot & for the cooperation so far @DarkR3v3lry!

Would you mind flushing the DNS on your PC to see if it still behaves in the same way? As this only happens on your computer (as far as we understand), it's possible that it'll help in this case. You can do so by following these steps:

  1. At the bottom left corner of desktop, type 'cmd' in the Start menu's search bar, and press Enter.
  2. Type 'ipconfig /flushdns' in the Command Prompt, and press Enter (there you should be prompted with a message that you've have successfully completed it).
  3. Restart the Spotify app.

You can also try a different DNS by following the steps listed here. Another thing that comes to mind is clearing your hosts file.

Cheers!

Still no dice. Tried a different DNS and cleared the hosts file on top of the DNS flush. The website remains a black loading screen.

Absolutely no clue what I did to fix it but itโ€™s working fine now.
