My Question or Issue
After the most recent Spotify player update, every time I leave a song paused for more than a few minutes and then hit "play" the song automatically pauses itself. See attachment for what I mean. It does this regardless of if I switch to offline mode and then switch back to online mode or keep it on online mode while I'm away from my laptop for a few minutes. I've had no issue while using the Samsung mobile app on my phone.
The only fix I have been able to find is if I force close Spotify through task manager and then open it back up. I believe this is a bug present in the latest update and should be fixed.

Hi there @odepoptop,
Welcome to the Spotify Community and thanks for reaching out!
Interesting. During the time the song is paused, is the screen locked? If not, is the Spotify window in focus then or is it minimized in the background?
Let's start off with disabling/enabling Hardware acceleration + restarting the app. The option can be found by clicking the three dots menu in the top left corner > Help > Troubleshooting. You can try resetting the app data as well (also found in the same menu).
Note: resetting the app data will log you out and reset your settings, so you'll have to adjust them again. If you had music downloaded for offline listening, you'll have to re-download it as well. Your library, however, will not be affected, so no worries there.
If the issue persists, I'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. It's also worth installing the app from a different source: since you're currently using the version from our website, try the one from the Microsoft Store instead to see if everything looks good there.
Cheers 🤘

I’m facing the same issue on both Mac and Linux desktop applications. Every time I click the play button, the music pauses about one second later. The issue seems to occur because a short video loads after the music starts playing. When this short video loads and starts playing, it appears to cause the music to pause. To fix the issue, I click on 'watch music video' after the short video loads, and then switch back to the audio playback. This works because the short video has already been loaded, so when I click play again, both the music and video play smoothly together.
My internet speed is not slow, and even if it were, it shouldn’t cause this type of problem.
Hey @muhep06,
Thanks for posting in the thread and for all additional details!
Just to make sure we cover all bases, have you tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned by @Yordan? Also, do you experience the same behavior on the Web Player?
If so, and the issue persist, could you let us know the make & model of your device? The Spotify version you're currently using would also be helpful.
On another note, keep in mind that Linux is currently not a platform that we actively support, so you may notice that it differs to the Windows app & we cannot guarantee its performance.
Cheers!
The screen is not locked when the song is paused, and it happens regardless if Spotify is focused or minimized. Turning off hardware acceleration has seemed to fix it.
