Sound artifacts

Sound artifacts

The last 3 out of 4 updates I've gotten the sound has occasional artifacts. 3rd latest update didn't seem to have this issue though. Using 1.2.15.828.g79f41970 now. I even heard this at the local gym so it's not just me being affected by this.

Here is a clip I made that should give you a good idea what these artifacts sound like. To be clear it's not an actual recording of this issue happening which would be hard to capture since it's kinda random. https://on.soundcloud.com/5e6VL

Not quite sure how to reproduce these, but seems to happen a lot when jumping or skipping tracks.

Hey @miles_153,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, if you haven't yet, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device to check if you notice any difference. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can find the steps to do it here.

If after the clean reinstall this behavior continues, we'd like to confirm, is this happening if you change the internet connection you're using? Is this happening over WiFi? Ethernet? Both? If possible, you can create a hotspot on a mobile phone and connect your computer to it, to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.

Lastly, do you use a VPN service? If yes, try switching it off to check if you notice changes.

Latest version (1.2.16.947.gcfbaa410) I got the other day doesn't seem to have this problem anymore. Guess we'll see if they f it up again in a future update.

Hey @miles_153,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

It may be so that the described experience is back, but in order for us to relay it to the tech team, we'd need to cover the basic troubleshooting steps first.

Could you perform a clean reinstall of the app again as described here? Check if the issue persists with a different account on the same device or on another device with the same app version.

A new recording would also be very helpful.

Cheers!

Issue is back, and has crashed my computer several times already. If you try to skip ahead in a song you might hear a sound that is sounds like a single cycle waveform freeze and your computer completely freezes too. Only thing you can do is to kill it with the power/reset button.
