My Question or Issue

When using my media keys to try to skip to the next song, Spotify PC App will rapidly skip anywhere from 3 to 10 songs before it starts playing a track.

Here are the steps I've tried that didn't work:

  • reinstalling the app

  • signing in and out

  • clearing cache

  • disabling hardware acceleration

  • restarting my pc

  • downloading and installing the spotifysetup.exe app directly from spotify's website

I noticed that using my mouse to click on the "skip track" button works perfectly fine and will skip just one track and start playing the next song as it should, however using media key shortcuts seems to cause the app to start rapidly skipping through the songs

Anybody else experiencing this issue with the Spotify PC App or may have a possible solution or fix?

This is the only temporary fix I've been able to find:

  • Click 3 Dots on the Top Left corner

  • Help > Troubleshooting > Reset App Data and Restart

These steps above will temporarily fix the issue until the app or my pc is restarted so it is not a proper solution.

It seems as though the latest version of the Spotify is bugged when using media keys on my keyboard to skip or restart tracks. This issue was not occurring yesterday, it started happening as of today (9/28/24)

I can't even click on the "About Spotify" option within the app to check and see which version of the software I'm running however it is certainly up to date through the Microsoft Store
