Spotify Starts Playing on Windows Sign-in After Sleeping

Spotify Starts Playing on Windows Sign-in After Sleeping

Plan: Premium

Country: Canada/Mexico

Device: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Strix 15 GL503GE 1.0

Operating System: WIndows 10 ungraded to the latest Win 11 with updates current

My Question or Issue:

I listen to Spotify sometimes and then stop the playback for some reason or other and it stays quiet.  I close the app and continue.

Then I put the computer to sleep and when I come back and sign in, Spotify starts playing whatever I was listening to some time ago and had killed, I thought.

This is highly annoying and sometimes embarrassing when starting up for business purposes, say when on the phone, after having been listening for pleasure earlier.

How do I drive a stake through the heart of this monster without going to the task manager?  Is there a setting?

Hi there @allendick,

Thanks for the post.

You can try going into Settings > Startup and Windows behavior > Open Spotify automatically after you log into your Computer and set this to No.

If that doesn't work and Spotify still starts up every time you log in. Try doing a clean reinstall of the app, as there might be corrupted old files causing the settings to not take effect.

Hope this helps.
