When I try to open Spotify nothing happens. Not even an error message or something.
The same when I try to uninstall it. Just nothing happens..
When I try to reinstall it, it says 'installing spotify'. And again boom, nothing happens afterwards.
Can someone help me?!

Hello:
You might check out this bitdefender site How to http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-add-exclusions-%28exceptions%29-in-bitdefender-2015-1307.h... for the adding exclusions. Also which version of the Spotify app are you running? Depending on which version of the app, you can just add the .exe file names and that should be all you need for Spotify service to get through properly. For example for Spotify version 1.0.8.59.gee82e7e6 the files names need to add an exclusion properly should be Spotify.exe and one might also add SpotifyWebHelper.exe also to allow all the Spotify service web elements through correctly.
Hello!
I seem to have found a solution! At least it worked for me.
First go to C:\Program Files and delete the Spotify folder.
Then go to C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming and delete the Spotify folder.
Then go to control panel and delete Spotify from the programs list.
Let me know if this worked for you too! 🙂
I have the same problem: Spotify does not open (although the process is running in task manager). Uninstall also does not work. Adding exception in AVG does not help either. What next? Help, please.
Same, since the latest update nothing is working, no clue what happened here. I would like to add, that it not being able to uninstall is rather unacceptable to me.
Having the same issue, recently spotify suddenly stopped being able to open and I can't uninstall it, nothing happens. I've uninstalled malwarebytes, restarted, made exceptions within my antivirus software (though I have an old program that I've been using forever w/o issues) w/o any improvement. What the **bleep**?
I've got the same issue, I've read every thread on the forum regarding this issue and none of the solutions have worked for me. It's like i just have a dead app filling up my SSD. I kinda wonder if Spotify's servers are being closed down or something, although i know that's not the case. The weird things is it works on my phone and tablet, even on my TV, just not my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.
Are there any weird suggestions apart from adding the process to the firewall, deleting various Spotify folders, and all the other suggestions from this and the other threads on the forum?
How can an app just stop working from one second to the next when nothing has changed on my PC? Everything else on my Windows is working in perfect order, which makes this issue all the more frustrating.
Looking forward to ANY ideas you people may have!
I'm having the same issue. If you open the task manager, it says the app is running but nothing happens and will just open multiple instances of itself. Uninstalling also fails, something must have been wrong in the latest update. They need to rollback and address this immediately. I am a paying customer and do so happily but with that I expect the service to work at all times.
What I ended up doing was following the advice of an earlier poster - I manually deleted all spotify app folders (under /users/appdata/roaming) and then installed a fresh version of Spotify and now it's working fine. Still no idea what caused the issue. 😞
I can confirm this worked for me as well. Still very strange but the manual deletion did allow me to reinstall and it's now working again.
Okay so i solved my problem, turns out that the version of Equalify plugin i had installed was out of date, my version was 2.5.3 which apparently was an old version, but when you check the www.equalify.me page that version says 1.1.7. There's a reason for that, it's because it's been re-coded to be compatible with Spotifys new code.
Everything just works fine now.
Thank you so much! I've been struggling to find any solution, but yours worked for me.
My god, this was it. Nearly a month of trying to periodically figure this out, and it was Equalify the whole time. Delteted that, and boom - Spotify works.
you are my hero. i just uninstalled equalify and boom - works fine
I tried this, but it says "This action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program. Close the folder or file and try again." I don't understand!! It is not open! I have tried everything. Help.
Hey,
I suspect that Spotify Webhelper is still running in the background, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC so that task manager opens up, in there look for Spotify Webhelper and force close it (either by pressing the DELETE key after you select it in the list, or by right clicking on the entry and selecting End process). It's an annoying little helper app that do not close when you close Spotify.
THANK YOU.
I couldn't uninstall Spotify and read all these suggestions. However, for me, what worked was when I realised I had not signed out of Spotify (via "file") but merely closed it with the top right "X" symbol. Signing out properly enabled me to uninstall it.
