Spotify won't play my playlists

Spotify won't play my playlists

I'll click play in a playlist, it'll play that first song, and then it'll play whatever it wants after, stuff that's not even in the playlist! I used to never have this problem and hadn't changed any of the settings. I tried turning off autoplay but that hasn't helped. This happens on both my phone app and my desktop app, on any of my playlists.

Hey @chelseyb,

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please let us know if this occurs with all playlists or just the ones created by you? Does enabling/disabling Shuffle mode make any difference?

If possible, please send us a short video of the issue, so we can better understand what's going on.

Looking forward to your reply.

🙄 of course Spotify starts working normally again halfway through me figuring out how to use the screen recorder!

Playlist shuffle currently functioning as normal again despite not changing anything, so I can't show the problem anymore 😅
I'll record it if the issue decides to reoccur.

Hey @chelseyb,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Yhprum's law, I guess 🙂 In any case, we're happy to hear that the issue has been resolved. Please note that we've recently introduced a new feature called Smart Shuffle which might explain the behavior you were seeing. It's only available on mobile devices though, so if this happens again on your desktop, do let us know so we can investigate further.

Take care,

I have suddenly developed this problem. I have turned off autoplay. I have turned shuffle off and on. It's doing this on Spotify lists, other public lists and albums. It basically makes Spotify unusable as the songs it's choosing aren't my usual autoplay songs. I'm a premium user and am not happy.

Hey there @tsbtextile

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, did you turned Smart Shuffle off?

If so, it's possible that you already have some songs in the Play queue. If that's the case, you just need to tap on "Clear queue" (or remove the songs you don't want to hear) and then restart the playlist you want to listen to.

If that's not the case, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of the issue happening so we can take a closer look?  You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be waiting for your reply.
