The context menu when right-clicking a song should be customizable.

The context menu when right-clicking a song should be customizable.

Spotify has changed the order of the context menu. Now Add to Playlist is on top instead of Add to Queue. They should revert this change and put Add to Queue back on top, or make the context menu customizable so that each user can fix it to their preference.

I use the Add to Queue-function when using Spotify a lot. I use this when listening to my playlists, exploring new music, or when I'm setting up a party queue. I do this more often than I add songs to playlists. The UI change has given me a negative user experience.

Fully agree with this. The topmost item of a right click menu should be the most commonly used functionality. I don't know about anyone else, but the play queue is the most vital part of any music app for me, and it should be the easiest thing to access.

Fully agree as well! I don't understand why to change something like this that has been a habit for so many people.

Completely agree! Don't know how often I chose Add to Playlist during the last couple of days, since my muscle memory still thinks Add to Queue is there. This does not make sense, as I use the queue function way more often and adding a song to a playlist is a more conscious action, where I don't mind more mouse movement.

I don't see any good and justifiable reason to this change.
It's confusing more than anything else.

They ruin the app with every single update. I am thinking of converting to pirate just because of these nonsense updates.

please revert this!!! ive never been this upset over a ui change i cant see why they would even think to do this?

I actually hate this change, I thought I was going crazy. There was no reason for this, and if there was it should be an obvious benefit for such an annoying change

Good idea tbh, been paying them since 2014 but with their dodgy changes I think times up.

This is utterly infuriating, add to queue is the most basic function. I would have it as the default action when double clicking a song.

Spotify has recently moved the "Add to queue" context menu item further down the list, it used to be on top. When I right click a song within a playlist, 99% of the time it is because I want to add it to the queue. If I wanted to add it to a playlist, I would just drag it to the sidebar, so why does this need to be the first option? I beg that this change is reverted.

From /u/lightonahill on Reddit:

Within the past 24 hours, Spotify seems to have switched around the order of the right click menu. The place where "Add to queue" has been for as long as I can remember is now "add to playlist." It's pretty much muscle memory to me by now to add a song to my queue so this is really throwing me off and definitely mildly infuriating, lol. They didn't make any improvements to the menu, nothing else is different, other than that they moved a menu option I use all the time from where I was used to it being. (I'm assuming I'm not the only person experiencing this, but I don't want to speak for anyone else. So sorry if talking about what "I" am used to sounds self-centered or selfish, lol) I don't understand why they would do this. I don't see how it's useful or helpful to anyone...right when they've just raised the price for premium too? Geez.

From /u/jusT-sLeepy on Reddit:

Did they change the position of the "Add to Queue" prompt via right-click? I could swear it used to be at the top and was now replaced by "Add to playlist"

This doesn't make sense to me. I am not sure how to explain it properly, but my intuition regarding UX would be to have the add to queue function at the top, since I want it to be done quickly, while add to playlist is an action done more consciously and so I don't mind having to do more mouse movement.

Same, just came here to see if anyone else noticed this. Pointless change that takes longer now. Nice job Spotify

From /u/onairmastering:

Yeah dude, came for this, mine is "add to library" so like /u/jusT-sLeepy says, muscle memory, when I realized I added like 6 albums to my library, the **bleep**ing add to queue is second now?

I love Spotify, it's making me so mad lately tho.

From /u/ClemencyArts:

So I'm not crazy!

Now, may I calmly ask Spotify:

WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THAT?!?!!?!?

From /u/smokesignalssouth:

I noticed this change too and it's driving me crazy, I'm so used to adding to the queue by clicking the top prompt so now I have to ignore my muscle memory to do it.

Thanks for the quote!

Seriously, Spotify. I can't think of any reason why you would want to do this. I would be ok with it if you had actually made improvements to the menu to make it necessary but...you didn't? There doesn't appear to be any good functional reason to do this. You just raised the prices on premium and when you were already not listening to your customers, you decide to go and do things just to upset us? Pathetic...

Ha! This pointless change got me like 4 times today, just had to see if I was going insane or not.

No reason for Spotify to not let users customize their own settings...

So far, these new updates that've been happening for a while have only downgraded Spotify. At one point, things were well, now they are not.

another bull💩 move

100% agree, Spotify designers are pretty out of touch.

...and lazy, if you select multiple songs 'Add to queue' is on top where it belongs.

Revert this annoying and useless change to the Right-Click Menu, please.
If you think your devs know better than the paying customers actually using your app daily then make it, and many other things in the app, customizable so we can choose for ourselves how we want to experience our favorite music through Spotify. The app is changing into an annoyance more than anything. Please listen to our feedback.
