Tracks are skipping 20-30 seconds ahead and skip to next with 3 minutes

Tracks are skipping 20-30 seconds ahead and skip to next with 3 minutes

Every track I play freezes and skips forward 20-30 seconds when it gets to about 1 minute and skips to the next track when it gets to about 3 minutes. I've already reinstalled the app, cleaned the cache and reduced the streaming quality, but nothing worked.

Hi @tiagoalencar47,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on Desktop? What about the web player?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Does it happen on different networks? If you haven't tested this already, please do so. If you use a VPN, disable it.
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

only skips on my window laptop

Thanks for replying me, Joan!

I tested some options according to your message and it's only happening in the desktop App. When I use the web player it plays the songs normally and I can also use the desktop app to control the web player and nothing strange happens.

I think it's really related to the VPN. When I disable it the desktop app keeps skipping, but it is in the Company's notebook. Maybe they put some blocker, or strong firewall in the machines, so I don't have other way to disable it totally, cause I'm not an admin.

Thank you so much for your help! I'll continue using the web player from now on.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the reply.

@tiagoalencar47 VPNs, proxy networks and other similar restrictions are known to cause many issues for the app when it tries to communicate with the servers, so it would seem that this is the most likely cause in your circumstance. You can try testing in your home network to narrow this down further.

If possible, you can discuss the matter with your local admins and ask if they can permit Spotify to have unobstructed access.

Let us know if you need anything else.
