My Question or Issue

Hello

I have a weird issue where it seems that Spotify try to decrease intrument volume and increase vocal volume under a song. It does a terrible job, and it's super annoying.

As soon as vocals are introduced, this happens in a song. If the vocalist have a break and other instruments play, the instruents will gradualy normalize. It perticulary likes the "S" sound we make and makes it insanely sharp and unbearable.

I have turned off normalization and volume levels. Equalizer is turned off.

Does not happen in games, YouTube or other apps containing music.

Hey there @Edited__

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.

Just to confirm, does this happen with all songs or only with one in particular? If it happens only with one or just a few songs, make sure to send us their URI and we'll take a closer look.

On another note, could you check if the same happens across devices? We'd also like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update or if it has always happened.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

Hello, @Eni!

Thank you for your reply!

It happens with all songs, old as new. It feels like it tries to "regulate" and/or protect my ears from high pitched sounds such as snares and loud pitched guitars, as well as isolate vocals and prioritize it and boost it over the remaining instruments. It does not matter I use my SteelSeries Arctis 5 headset or my Harman Kardon Onyx 4 bluetooth speaker. The results are the same.

I am unware of any updates that may have happened. I also tried reinstalling Spotify on this device. Are there any registry files that should be removed as well?

I am unable to recreate the issue on my S22+ Android phone, neither my Tizen TV.

Best regards
Ededed

Hey @Edited__,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

To remove registry files we'd recommend clearing any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer. You can follow the instructions mentioned in this post.

Also, would you mind checking if the Web Player has the same behavior?

If the issue persists, if you installed the app from the official website, we'd recommend installing the version available in the Microsoft store (or vice versa) to see if it makes any difference.

Hope this helps. We'll be on the lookout.
