Windows app won't play music

Windows app won't play music

This has been ongoing for a week now. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on Windows 11 multiple times. It will play music normally for a few days and then suddenly won't play any songs. Warning message is just "Spotify can't play this content right now". Not having any issues with Android app.

Having the same problem after certain songs randomly stopped playing after 10 or so seconds, and it took my home screen much longer than usual to load before it would no longer load.  It seems like the app now loads normally, but music will not play.  Not good given it was only 8 days ago that there was a similar outage.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

At the moment, it's possible to download the app from both the Microsoft Store and our Web page here. So in this case, if you install the desktop app from the web page, try to uninstall that version and try installing the one from the Microsoft one or vice versa. Keep in mind that you need to cleanly uninstall the version you're running. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sharing the Spotify version in which you noticed the described behavior?

Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Keep us in the loop!
