it wont download properly - says spotify is running

i downloaded it before and it worked, but then it stopped working (wouldn't open) so i deleted it and tried to re-download it. now each time i have tried it says that spotify is already running so it won't work - any suggestions?

Can you try a clean reinstall for the program? You can do so with the steps you'll find here.
