lyrics not auto scrolling

lyrics not auto scrolling

so im using the app on my laptop and have a premium subscription in case that matters. My issue is that when im trying to view any song lyrics, the lyrics dont auto scroll and sync to the song, im not pressing any lyrics or any other buttons, just the lyrics button and it doesn't auto scroll. This issue started just a week ago and before this is used to work perfectly.

So I'm listening to music right? I click a specific (ALREADY SYNCED) lyric, it'll play that lyric, but then it won't continue to scroll. The other lyric lines are in gray and the screen doesn't scroll or turn the lines white. what??? (I am a Chromebook user.)

Does this only happen if you click on a line when looking at the lyrics? Do the lyrics work fine if you don't click on them?

Hey folks,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on your device. If you're using the mobile app on your Chromebook, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. In case you're using the Web Player, clear all cache files from your browser and try again.

If the issue persists, would you mind checking with a different Wi-fi network to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test this on.

Lastly, to continue investigating the case, include in your next response the details previously asked by @kaworu_bloodpaw.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi there @gi1ly

Welcome to the Community!

Have you tried doing a clean reinstall of the app? Sometimes app files might get corrupted and cause such issues. Please follow this guide to do a full reinstall of the app. This will also assure that you're running the latest app version.

If that doesn't help, please let us know the following info, so we can investigate further:

  • Device model + OS version
  • Spotify app version

Cheers.

This might be a silly question, but the songs which won't scroll currently used to scroll before, right? Because not all lyrics automatically scroll if they haven't been synced yet.

Hey @Arikabeth,

Thanks for your reply.

Our Lyrics provider is Musixmatch. Once their lyrics have been verified, artists or their representatives can add them to their database. After adding (editing/transcribing) those lyrics, they are then ready to be synced. You can read all about it here.

If you'd like to synchronize some of your favorite tracks' lyrics, you can check that as well in the article above. So, to answer your question, it's possible not all lyrics are synced yet, or if they're being corrected somehow, it might take a while before you see them synced again.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks for the reply and the troubleshooting tried so far.

Does the same issue occur when you use a different account on the same device?

Let us know how that went,

Cheers!

Hey, so I have been having the same issue for a few weeks now and I have tried everything: reinstalling the app multiple times, clearing app cache, logging in and out of my account multiple times... I haven't been able to solve the issue. I have been having this issue with all the songs that previously used to scroll down automatically. This issue has started to really make me hate the app. I'm using the desktop app on windows 10.

Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Hey @user-removed,

Thank you for joining the conversation.

We understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article? If so and the issue persists, could you try the suggestion mentioned by @Dian and have someone log in with their account on your device, such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists? This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.

Also, would you mind checking on a different device or the Web Player (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

Hey, I did the steps mentioned above and nothing worked. Lyric tracking did work on my phone and with the web player on my computer. I'm on Windows 11 and the version of the app I'm using is, 1.2.10.760.g52970952. Hope this helps.
