My Question or Issue

I can't log in to the Spotify desktop app.  Whenever I open the app, instead of just asking for my username/password, it wants to consult the browser version of Spotify.  When I do this, it opens a new tab, with a button to "Continue to the app".  I click this, a moment passes, and then the browser tells me, "Authentifaction complete, You may now close this window".  However, nothing changes in the app; I'm still logged out.

I have added a firewall exception for Spotify.  This is a fresh install on a new Windows 11 machine.  Tried changing the default browser to Edge, made no difference.  Tried changing proxy settings, no difference.  Tried restarting the app, no difference.

When do you expect service to resume?

Update - tried uninstalling it and replacing it with the MS Store version, no difference.

Hi there @_fj1-gf6lbp3h,

Thanks for reaching out!

If you're using a VPN, can you try disabling it? It's also worth clearing your hosts file by following the steps in this article. Something else you can try is flushing your DNS cache. You'll find a detailed guide on how to do that here.

Let us know how it goes.
