"This song is not available..."

"This song is not available..."

Out of the blue, every other song I try to play on my desktop Spotify version now gives me the error "This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

Songs that I played fine last week suddenly aren't playing, including entire albums.

I've been a paid premium user for 5+ years and never had this issue. Very frustrating. Seemed to start after the latest update.

Note: All songs play fine on MOBILE version. Only have this problem on desktop.

Hello!

Have you checked your firewall settings? Do you have WiFi connection or Ethernet? You could have either a bad WiFi signal or maybe a defectuous cable as well.

You scanned your pc to make sure you have no virus? Maybe try clearing cache? What were you doing when it stopped playing?

Awaiting for response !

Same problem is happening to me. I recently made a post about it...

it's on my work computer (as it has been for years) so i don't believe any of those issues are the problem. happened after the most recent update.

This is happening to me as well.  I can't play any of my music on my computer.  I've had this computer for years, this wifi for years and spotify for years.  I hadn't used spotify in a few months and now nothing is available.  It drives me absolutely nuts that I can't call for support or, at the minimum, there is no help chat.

Hello again everyone,

I'm deeply sorry that no one else in the community is attempting to assist you on this situation.

Please, before I can provide any further assistance I need you all verify every detail I provided before. There are several factors, from simple update to some change in the pc, that can alter Spotify.

A simple "I don't think that's the issue" is not enough.

Please, at least try clearing cache and then reinstalling Spotify.

Close Spotify and then delete every folder and file inside: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage

After that, uninstall Spotify. Once uninstalled, delete the folder: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify

Once deleted proceed to redownload from official site and reinstall Spotify.

Thank you for your attention people. Have a nice day!

i followed all your instructions and reinstalled. the issue is still there.  not a single song will play

Check this and let me know if it was useful or useless.

I'll try to keep looking but that is what I can give you at the moment.

nope.  toggled it off and issue still exsists.  i verified and my account is in premium too.

this issue occured in this last update.  I was playing songs mins before i updated the client

Same thing is happening to me. Cleared cache, reinstalled, same problem. Songs are playing fine from mobile but not on desktop player (Windows). I'm a Premium user.

I just did everything that you directed.  Still exactly the same.  How do I contact Spotify directly?  I'm paying for a premium family account, but am not getting what I am paying for.

People are chiming in with this issue all coming from the latest version of the client.

This is a problem and it needs developer support.

I'm not going to pay premium if I cannot stream high quality thru my media center PC.

I am having this same issue and it only started occurring after the new update. Please fix this asap!

Bump!

I can't play any music on my computer using the web app or the desktop app, works on my iPad. I don't have premium.

Really sucks - paying for Premium and all I want to do is listen to my tunes

I had this issue and I restarted my computer and it seemed to fix the issue. It works now. Not say it will fix it but give it a shot and see if it helps.

Hey all... I just restarted my computer after having this issue for about a week and it seemed to work after this.

Even stranger: player works fine on my desktop PC (Windows 10 Pro, player version 1.0.44.100.ga60c0ce1) but not on my laptop (Windows 10 Enterprise, same version of the player).

Using Spotify isn't prohibited by my employer and the player worked on that laptop until a few days ago.

???

I've been having this on and off for a while too, on Mac mostly.  I tend to switch to using the web player for a bit and then when i restart the desktop client it works again for a few days or so.  It's really annoying, definitely a bug in the client somewhere...
