[All Platforms][Your Library] Increase maximum Songs allowed in Your Music

I feel like the maximum amount of songs allowed in one playlist, and subsequently in "Songs" playlist under the new "Collections" feature, should be more than 10,000.

Quite frankly it should be unlimited.

We are paying for a service but limited on how many songs we are able to save? That is absurd to me.

I recently started saving all of my albums into "Collections" and got stuck at about 1/4 of the way through - 10,000 songs has been reached and I am no longer able to save any more albums.

PLEASE INCREASE MAX NUMBER OF SONGS IN COLLECTION FEATURE!!!

WHAT IS A COLLECTION IF YOU HAVE TO LIMIT YOUR TASTE???

Updated on 2020-05-26

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange.

We're excited to be marking this idea as implemented!
We've now removed the limit on saved items in Your Library, making it possible to save songs, and albums on Spotify to your heart's content.

As the app has changed quite a bit since this idea was submitted, please be aware that some functionality is now different. This change does not impact the limit on the number of songs in a playlist other than your Liked Songs.

For more info, check out this blog post.

I'm removing myself from this thread. I just get frustrated hearing about hundreds of people having the same issue as I did (wanting to save more than 10000 songs, and downloading more than 3333 songs). And they are just the people coming on this thread

No, I don't want playlists. I want albums. And I don't want to be limited to the amount that I can save or download. I don't just save 1 song from an artist here and there. I save entire albums. Say Ben Harper for example, there are 15 albums alone (on deezer) of which I've saved all of them. This is in excess of 200 songs there, and that's just one artist.

As a music lover I have 100s and 100s of artists that I've grown to love over the 30+ years of listening. Unfortunately my brain can't remember them all when I login, but that's what I want my streaming provider to do for me.

I am still baffled that Spotify continue to ignore this issue that effects so many people.

Don't get me wrong, playlists work for some people and you can get around the limit. However this isn't how I want to save / store my music. And why would I bother when so many other services don't have such a stupid limit.

So one final recommendation from me before I remove myself from this thread. If your not happy with the limit, and or using the 'work around' that is playlists in order to beat the limit, then cancel your subscription. Don't wait for Spotify as they simply aren't interested. Speak with your money. It's the only way Spotify will ever do anything about this limit.

I moved to deezer (I'm in Australia) and love it. No limit what so ever. I have over 70gb of music added to my collection, all of which is downloaded to my phone. I do a lot of my listening on the road and don't want to chew through my phone data listening to music. I also want to have all my music available to me when I open the app. Hence downloading it all to my phone. I don't know what music mood I'll be in when I step into my car.

So if you are able to, use deezer. At least until spotifail fix their limit issue. But for me personally, it'll be too late. I will be so far imbedded into deezer I won't go back anyway.

@rednblu I can't understand what you don't understand, honestly...

As I said, I used to (and I like to) browse my own music library looking for some artist or album I wish to listen to in that moment.
Browse, to me, means to be able to review your collection sorting by artist, album, genre, tag and whatever there is. I am not interested at all in randomization and deduplication, and if I want to listen to other stuff I use radio and public playlists.
Yeah, this is how I expect to "play" a music library...and
I don't think this is something weird at all, neither I think I'm the only one who uses this "approach"...in fact I don't get why you are so sarcastic and skeptical about it, actually.

Beside that: I don't want to use playlists in substitution of a music library, if this is what you are suggesting behind the sarcasm (and your sophisticated way to take fun of me, basicly) of your post: playlists are not organized, and their management, in terms of browsing capabilities, is awful. Unless there is a hidden playlist feature who is, also, a MUSIC LIBRARY. If that is the case...well, you could've always let me know in a more educated way, anyway.

@henohowrah this is EXACTLY the point.

Not only that, I have your same needs, and you said EXACTLY what I wanted to know about deezer: your post is really the right one at the right place and time to me, thanks a lot man.

I am done with Collection building on Google Play Music. It has no limit anywhere. So I have already plenty.

 Alone AgainAlone Again

Because Dance Music is mainly single based, I have only 99% singles and 1% albums. Stats.

560 artists

758 albums

5 972 tracks

1 genre (Electronic and Dance)

They also provide option to correct metadata of Your Library (releases added to it), so you can fix metadata, like typos, wrong genres, other things. Sadly it won't affect the same in playlists, but releases otherwise. So in playlists meta data eon't change. Works good. I use this not for listening music. I have two playlists for that. One for now 827 extended only tracks and one 32 edited only tracks. Sometimes extended is not available, so I add it to seperate edited list. I listen only EDM music.

My main goal to have this collection is to see easily what artists I have on my lists / like and also details about all albums and tracks with genres. I see this as collecting my music, my soul, on my app I pay 10 € month. Sometimes I just scroll album collection and WOW this release I want now and listen all other mixes too (usually I put only the best mix to list, but others can be very good too). I don't think playlist is right place to store your faves, so collection should be unlimited. Spmetimes I just change the remix on list. But I would never have full releases on lists! This also reason why I moved on from Spotify. In Spotify world with my stats above I am already 60% of 10,000 tracks limit in Your Music.

I have over 10,000 songs on CD at my house. I was enjoying the fact that I no longer have to get those CDs out of their cases to play them. I don't mind that I am paying for them again with my monthly subscription. I don't even mind that you don't even have a bunch of those CDs in your collection, and I do get them out of their cases to play them, although I hope one day you will add them too.  I don't keep any of them downloaded, as I have no need for that.

What I do mind is you telling me I have listed too many songs in my song collection! Who cares how many I have listed? It seems really arbitrary and pointless. I love to peruse my collection and decide what hits the sweet spot at any one time. I don't wanth to have to go searching through the millions of things you have in your collection every time - that is a waste of my time. When I am in the mood for that I will select a few things and put them in my collection, but I don't like doing that every day. Perhaps my money is arbitrary and pointless to you?

Perosales

This has gone long enough.

It's 2016... Remove this cap. We're stuck with your service!

Hi Guys,

Just want to check, i do not know the exact number on my saved "Songs" playlist, but it was deteriorating in terms of load time on my mobile.

Earlier phase, when you go into that folder, it doesnt show any songs in that playlist. However, give it 5-10 mins, they appear. Is this the lag time? If so, why is there a lag time?

Present: the songs do not load anymore. not even if i leave it for hours. nothing shows up. This is madenning!

Yes, i've delete and redownload the app on my phone. logout/login.

What other things can I do please advise.

THanks!

Amilli
