switch account easy without logging in and out (especially for Kids)

Why is it not possible to create sub-accounts in the main account (like Netflix or Prime). I have 2 children aged 3 and 5 and my account is full of children's songs and stories. This is very tedious and so I hardly use my account anymore. Making a separate account just for the kids is very unnecessary as they can't use it themselves yet. Also, I find it a bit excessive to have to pay extra for such small children when they can't even use it themselves (can't read and write yet). Also, it's not very user-friendly to have to log in and out all the time. Netflix and other providers are also streaming services and manage to implement such a feature as well.

I have seen that this function is desired by many people and has also been asked for years. So far, nothing has happened in this regard. And the only answer I could find was that it is a streaming service and therefore it does not work. No satisfactory answer, since it also works with Netflix and Co. Very sad!

An account is always expected to be used by explicitly one user. Therefore, there is no need to add the option for sub-accounts or profiles. You can subscribe to Spotify Family to use multiple accounts with one payment at reduced cost.

Comparing with Netflix is not really adequate as there is only one account which may be used by the persons from one household. Adding profiles to Spotify could make abuse of Spotify easier.

A better option is therefore having the ability to be logged-in in two accounts with the same client and having a quick toggle to switch the active account.

Yes I do have a family account and it's such a pain to switch from 1 account to another for kids that I'm probably going to switch to a duo account

@bannier Switching to a duo subscription won't change anything in this matter as a duo subscription is also two separate accounts (like family has up to 6 different accounts).

What we really need is a quick-switch between different accounts in the apps. No matter which subscription they belong to.

I know. It's just that I'm paying for 4 accounts and because my kids and wife can't switch easily between accounts I only use 2 of them (1 per device) instead of the four of them (1 per user). So basically duo would be cheaper for me.

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that the option to switch between accounts is being implemented. We'll start with Android mobile devices and tablets. Remember this is slowly being rolled out for everyone, so if you don't see it now, just make sure to keep your app up to date.

At the moment, we don’t have any info to share about when this will be available for iOS users. Rest assured that any news will be posted here.

For Kids, we also have the Spotify Kids app available in certain markets. Feel free to take a look at the info here, but bear in mind that if you can’t access the link or if you get an error, Spotify Kids is currently not available in your country. If this is the case, we'd suggest keeping an eye in our Newsroom for any updates regarding availability in new countries.
