Album photo search

Allow for Spotify to use the camera on a smart phone along with AI to search for an album just by taking a picture of it. I have a big vinyl collection, I don’t always want to load up the record player, sometimes it’d be nice to just pull the album out, tune my phone’s camera to “scan” the cover of the album in Spotify and then have Spotify play that album for me. This would also work great to try out albums at the record store before you buy them.

Dear Spotify Team,

I’d like to suggest a new feature that I believe could significantly enhance the user experience on Spotify: integrating a camera icon in the search bar, similar to Google Lens.

This feature would allow users to perform searches by capturing images. For example:

Pointing the camera at a vinyl record cover to instantly access the full album on Spotify.

Scanning song titles or album names from another screen without needing to manually type them.

This functionality would make discovering and accessing music more seamless, bridging the gap between physical and digital formats while saving users time.

I strongly believe this feature could attract more users and further solidify Spotify as a leader in innovation and user convenience.

Thank you for considering this idea, and I’d be happy to provide further details if needed.

Best regards,
Vladislav Polesitsky
