[Desktop][Podcasts] Mark as Played

The feature to Mark as Played that's available in Mobile should absolutely be available in the desktop app also. Why is there a feature disparity between platforms?

I'm actually able to go into a podcast and either click the three dots in the top right corner or simply right click the episode and select "Mark As Played" or "Mark As Unplayed" as needed, which is what I wanted.

@m3world I’m not really sure how Spotify offering podcasts is intrusive. I haven’t found it to be intrusive. Of course, it appears on the home page, but you don’t have to click or tap on them, and they don’t pop up either.

The home page isn’t exactly a good way to discover music anyway, so I don’t know why Spotify offering podcasts is a problem for you. This thread is about the lack of a “Mark as Played” feature on desktop. It seems to have been added now, but you can’t select multiple podcast episodes, so it’s not that useful. I wish you could select many episodes of a podcast at a time to mark them all as played, which would be great for people coming from other podcast platforms who have listened to most of the episodes already.

@Mario the basic "mark episode as played" feature has already been added to the Desktop app now. Please see this Idea for clarification on why it still needs improvement: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Podcasts-Mark-all-multiple-podcasts-played/idc-p/5219299...

Don't hold your breath. It took 3 years and over 1500 likes before they did it for mobile.

How is this not a feature yet?

I just want to listen from episode 1 all the way through again, and it's seemingly impossible. Without alt-tabbing back in and physically dragging the time elapsed bar back to the start.

There must be thousands of other users who re-listen to old episodes, and spotify have made it as difficult as possible.

Throwing in my vote for this feature; tried to do this today. Web/Desktop app should reflect a similar feature set as mobile apps.

While always found it strange this feature didn't exist at all on Spotify, what is more surprising is that it came to Mobile but not Desktop, since often the most features go to desktop apps, but companies limit the number of features on mobile as much as possible. Also where the feature was relatively recently introduced after so many years of people asking (right after podcasts came to Spotify), with all the time the company had to work on the feature, surprising it didn't come to desktop.

They probably think it it solved because you can mark all episodes as played on the app, by an easy to skip extra option when you mark one episode as played. Why you cant do it in the settings of the podcast itself I will never know. Why it is not even an option to mark all as played on the desktop is another question I will never know. I stopped listening to Joe Rogan over this issue, I thought he was their golden boy?
