[Playlists] Adding a SORT button to the playlists for Android Auto

Hi guys,

As you already know (and because you want to keep all your Premium members and regular members still onboard) for around 4 years already a lot of ideas and requests were made from us about adding the 'Sort' option for the playlists in Android Auto. As it appears to all the requests made until now, the idea was pushed aside because of not having the required number of 'likes' on the topic. Seriously? (i saw countless requests over the years made on this specific topic). Why is it that hard to add the option? Almost all of your members would highly appreciate it. How does this appear as "good customer service" if you don't listen to your members to implement an option which will make our user experience so much better? Is it fair, especially for the ones who pay Premium account? I hope that somebody from the team will be so kind and forward this topic so that it can be resolved. Thank you for your time ! Spotify doesn't care about their customers. They have multiple teams of software developers making six figure salaries and who are pampered like spoiled pets, and this is the best they can do?

It's a one, maybe two sprint code change. Try harder Spotify. This is embarrassing.

The only reason this idea (according to Spotify) doesn't have enough Likes to be prioritised is because Spotify keep closing the idea down so new versions of the same idea have to be made - and thereby splitting the numbers. Ridiculous that this still can't be done.

Yes but that's intentional. The feature request status is case closed so every new post will be closed no matter how many likes it has. Maybe if we keep going for years they might reconsider 🙂

The Spotify app for Android Auto (not to be confused with Android Automotive) really needs a sort option. Right now, playlists in Spotify for Android Auto seem to default to the "Custom" sort order for some reason. Otherwise, the only option to sort by is from A-Z and vice versa. 

It would be awesome if sorting by "Date Added" could be implemented in Android Auto. It seems like something that should be there and would be greatly appreciated.

After so many years, this is still not in the app. It drives me insane there is no option to sort a playlist, as it's a BASIC FUNCTIONALITY OF ANY MEDIA PLAYER since the first media player was made. What's worse, this is a 1-day gig for a mediocre developer. At this point it looks like spotify doesn't care nor is willing to fix this, which is sad.

Whenever I select a playlist on Android Auto, it always shows the first song I added into the playlist. It would be nicer if the latest added song shows up first for easy selection.

Also cannot believe this very trivial very wanted feature is STILL not available. This should be both functional design and software development 101.

So now each time I want to use Spotify via Android Auto and want to play my favorites by "recently added" I have to start it first from my phone. And I can't change the playlist during my drive because then the sorting will be gone.

Countless requests for many years already for this, all over the internet. And STILL not possible. Just unbelievable.

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're setting the status to Not Right Now, as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. When we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Guys, I avoid using Spotify in the car solely because of this. Instead use YT Music. Are you seriously telling me this has been on the board unimplemented for 3 years or more?! Your heads must be elsewhere...
