You listen to a song which reminds you of another song.
But wait, there's a twist!
These songs might:
See if you spot an invisible string between two songs in one of your playlists, or in your Queue. However distant or improbable the relation, share it below and tell us how you made the connection!
๐ง Only Child - Sasha Sloan
๐ฆ Son of an Only Child - Tom Odell
Yes, the titles of these two songs are reminiscent of each other - that's how, while listening through to Sasha Sloan's new album, titled 'Only Child', I thought of its possible sibling, Tom Odell's 'Son of an Only Child'.
I love how two songs which apparently broach the same subject (being an only child) can do so in such contrasting ways, both sonically and lyrically. Have a listen for yourselves ๐

Nice topic @Peter!
After reading this, I realised that from my most recent songs, these two TikTok -inspired tracks have a garden-y vibe connecting them.
See what I mean for yourselves:
spotify:track:1fah1uAs7HeTYDlNftKr3K - the cover art is someone standing in a blooming garden
spotify:track:0y9fkzOaaQy4Up22BGUbIp - the title is Backyard Boy and the singer wants to dance in their backyard
They make me look forward to spring!
Hey @Peter !
I love this thread, I feel like these two tracks in my playlist could be siblings.
They're pretty different in feel but both piano vibes with the title link too!

@Katerina - loving the garden vibes ๐ป
@Melody - Fallingwater was already a favourite of mine, but I liked its sibling too ๐
Let me throw another couple into the mix:
๐ง Seventeen - Sharon Van Etten
๐ง๐ง Seventeen - Sharon Van Etten feat. Norah Jones
A lot of songs which I love have a single version and a subsequent version with a featured artist. A few that come to mind are 'Us' - James Bay ft. Alicia Keys; 'Shape of You' - Ed Sheeran ft. Stormzy; 'Dark Days' - Local Natives ft. Sylvan Esso.
The version of 'Seventeen' featuring Norah Jones is not just Norah adding her vocals to the second verse. Norah's jazz influence, with the gently swinging drum rhythm replacing the punchy 4:4 rock one in the original, is all over the track. It's not so much a feature as it is a collaboration in the truest sense: two artists joining creative forces and (re)writing an entire song together.

Here are a couple of songs that I think could be considered as โmusical siblings,โ since there are a few similarities that Iโve noticed between them:

https://open.spotify.com/track/5XMi32G8g2a4oLi88DUXkq?si=BtqCmV4pQ8KD1l3X5X0TJg
Both tracks have โHeliosโ in their song titles; โHelios Hyperionโ refers to the Sun god in ancient Greek mythology, while โHeliosphereโ refers to the outer atmosphere of the Sun.
These songs are also similar in that they donโt have lyrics, and are representative of the psychedelic-, space-, and stoner rock genres of music.
Cheers!
Two fingerstyle guitar songs titled after watermelon:

The tracks are also connected by their relation to John Fahey. The first was released under the Takoma Records label, started by Fahey in the 1950s. The second is part of the American Primitive Guitar genre, which Fahey pioneered--Fahey's influence in the track is pretty recognizable.
Yeah pretty different but I think I know what you mean
Hey everyone,
Not sure if I understood what @Peter means by sharing the sibling DNA, but I thought of two tracks that made me see them as siblings. The reason for this is that they actually have the same drum programming which can be easily heard. Considering they're both from the early 90s I guess this sample was popular among artists and that's why many used it.

If you just listen to the beat you'll hear it's literally the same in both songs.
Cheers!
