One band that comes to mind is Mountain Witch, a modern stoner/doom metal band describes the sound of their new album from this year, Extinct Cults, as “early 80s, but probably somewhere in the countryside, where people still, unsuspectingly honour the old gods of 70s heaviness but ride on faster mopeds!” Here’s my favorite track from this album:

Another band that comes to mind is Freedom Hawk, a modern stoner rock/metal band that describes their music in their Spotify biography as having “touches of early ‘80s metal.” Here’s one of my favorite tracks of theirs, where I might have thought that it was from that time period if I wasn't already familiar with the artist:
