Add producer, songwriter, and musicians to songs

Add producer, songwriter, and musicians to songs

In the old days when CDs were bought, I used to love reading the liner notes where it listed the songwriter, Producer, and musicians who played on the song.

I really would like Spotify to add that information, maybe if you click on the album art, it would flip over and display the credits for the songwriter, Producer, and musicians.

Hey there @joshsarah,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us answering in English as this is the official language of the forum.

That being said, we'd like you to know this is already possible within the app. To check this info, you can right-click on a track and select Show credits on the desktop app. It looks like this:

You can also select the three-dot menu of the song to view information on performers, songwriters and producers. It's similar in the mobile app version:

By selecting the three-dot menu for a song, you can see the menu above. Locate the Show credits to check the info.

If your suggestion was different from that, feel free to submit your idea again, highlighting how it’s distinct from the existing feature. Don't forget to follow our Idea Exchange Guidelines.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need a hand with anything else, we're always a post away.

As an artist I can say that it seems they didn't grasp the clear concept expressed by you. The idea you rightly suggested is to give greater credit to the musicians who have given "character" to musical products. So don't just give the possibility of seeing minimum credits in which only the primary artists, authors and producers appear, but rather give the possibility of also inserting the names of ALL the musicians who participated in the recording of the main artist, obviously everything this is in the process of uploading one's music by labels and various providers. It would be enough to add a simple new compilation field in which to specify who played the guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, etc. All this would serve today for a cultural factor, as happened with all the credits that were present on physical media.

+1 to this. The moderator hasn't fully understood the first poster's point.

Listing all performers under the "performed by" part of the "show credits" dialogue should be standard stuff, but currently it only lists the primary or featuring artists there. Listing all the performers here in the "show credits" dialogue would enhance the Spotify listener's experience by providing comprehensive information about the music. Secondly, it offers transparency, legitimizing recordings rather than presenting them with smoke and mirrors. Additionally, it supports the careers of session musicians by acknowledging their contributions.

Implementing this feature should not be challenging for Spotify. For instance, Apple Music already does a better job in this regard. In Apple Music's web browser version (albeit not their standalone app version yet), you can click on the three dots and then 'view credits' to see who performed every instrument (not just the primary artist or featuring).
