Hey there!
Does the issue persist when you try using the Alexa app instead?
Please test & let us know 🙂
Thanks!
@Sexmonster
Same issue here, I am using an Ultimate Ears BLAST speaker. Connecting to the speaker has not been an issue, but not being able to request a playlist or song through Alexa assistant has been frustrating as that was the very reason to get this speaker. I must say I have been using spotify for a while now, and this is the only issue I have had with my service, and it is becoming very frustrating. So hopefully a solution to this issue is found, although reading the comments and threads, I am not very hopeful as this seems to be an ongoing issue with so many other users and over a long period of time now
I can confirm that the issue persists when using the Amazon Alexa app. It appears to either be an Amazon or Ultimate Ears issue, but neither have been helpful in attempting to resolve.
If I ask Alexa to play anything other than Amazon Music, she won’t play it. I even tested it with Tidal and she says she has trouble playing that.
Same problem. Megablast won't play Spotify, but accepts all other Alexa requests
Hey folks,
Thanks for getting in touch about this.
Based on what you mentioned, it sounds like this is more related to the Alexa device setup.
In this case, we'd recommend reaching out directly to Amazon support on this matter so they can take a closer look on their end and further assist you with this.

I have the same exact problem on my UE Megablast.**bleep** agree that it is super annoying that Spotify worked on the UE device as well as it did on any other Alexa device and now this problem developed. I am wondering if there are any UE devices that are free of this problem? Perhaps the solution is sending back UE devices that have this problem until you find one that doesn't? It is after all false advertisement if the UE device only is partly an Alexa device - that is not what it said on my UE Megablast box when I got it!
I am having the exact same issue. The Alexa assistant tells me it is playing spotify then silence. Every other alexa device I gave plays my spotify account without issue
I am also having this issue. Luckily Spotify connect helps out enough for now. But I would really like this to be fixed.
**bleep** I have the same problem, I have the UE Megablast, it stoped working with spotify maybe 6 moths ago, the other music services as Amazon music worked with no issues. For you support guys, please don’t blame others for this issue you can schedule a meeting with Amazon and find out a solution. Thanks
Hey Vasil. If you have Spotify set in Alexa as your default app and say “Alexa, play” then the UE mega boom will actually play the first music in the cue on the Spotify app. But if you ask them for specific commands like “Alexa, play my liked songs” or “play Coldplay” it’ll reply as if it’s gonna do it but you get nothing. The thing is these specific commands used to work before. Not sure if it’s some coding that got updated within the last 6 months with your team or what but it’s has made all megaboom speaker owners discouraged from using your music service. Can you send this to someone that knows how to fix what once worked before but now in limbo? You guys are losing customers here.
Eni do you know who built the actual app that links Spotify to Alexa? That’s what seems to be messing everything up. Only one command works. “Alexa, play”. And that will play the song that is cued up in your Spotify app. But only if you set spotify as the default music app in Alexa. Specific commands such as “Alexa, play my liked songs” or “Alexa, play Metallica on Spotify”. It won’t work which it did 6 months ago.
Alexa has this feature where you can link it to other apps built by other software such as Spotify. Or Apple Music. The problem is the commands for Spotify are now limited to just one. Is there anyway you can send this up? Ask them to check the coding? It used to work before. You’ll be a savior to millions of mega boom speaker owners. This is your chance! Please help. And be the hero everyone needs you to be.
I reached out to Ultimate Ears, since it was a problem with my UE Blast, and sent them details of the problem.
They finally replied and confirmed that they are no longer supporting the Blast line of speakers and that they would no longer be getting updates. I’m guessing that Amazon of Spotify updated something, but UE never kept up with the update on their end.
So sad to see that this issue still hasn’t been fixed. It’s been happening with my MegaBlast for months and it seems like this will never get resolved… very disappointing.
Had similar issues connecting Spotify, and finally found a fix that worked for me. The solution was to UNINSTALL Spotify on my phone, connect google home to Spotify (it will open the web interface to linking since the app is no longer downloaded), then download Spotify app again.
No idea why this worked but I’m glad it did.
Can you elaborate a little more? This fixed your Blast playing music from Spotify through Alexa voice commands?
