[Bug] Music Playback Speed Inheriting Podcast Playback Speed

Solved!

[Bug] Music Playback Speed Inheriting Podcast Playback Speed

Recently got the update that finally lets you set the playback speed for podcasts on the web player but the problem is the button for that goes away when a podcast ends and the song in my queue after that begins so my songs start playing at the speed the podcast was playing at (too fast!).

This never happened to me on native desktop nor mobile apps.

Edit: Issue persists over multiple logins and after resetting cache. No extensions installed.

Hi
I spotted an issue with playback speed controller on Web Player ( browser used: Edge)
Playback speed controller can change speed value while listening podcast but speed value don't change to default when user switch to listening a music.

Steps to replicate:
1. Go to spotify web player on Edge ( check others browsers too)
2. Go to podcasts
3. Change playback speed to for e.g. x2.0
4. Play a song
Results: Music is played with speed x2.0 but user can't change it because speed controller is only visible when playing podcast

Hey @AzureArmageddon,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we can confirm we could replicate this behavior on our side. We've made sure to pass this info to the relevant team, who are now aware of this issue.

We'd suggest subscribing to this thread on the three-dot menu, so you can stay up-to-date on any news we have to share about it.

We value every piece of feedback you share with us, but our Ideas board is to help us receive new product and feature suggestions that will allow us to improve our app and service for everyone. When you notice some behavior like this one, the best way to go is to let us know here on the help boards 🙂

We'll be on the lookout!

Update: It seems playback of the "YourEpisodes" playlist appears to inherit the shuffle toggle switch state from the song player UI while also hiding the toggle switch. Kind of annoying. May make a separate post for that but it's similar to this issue so I'm replying here first.

Hi, it isn't working for me. I can't find the playback thing at all.

Hi there @hi393,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Can you make sure that the playback speed is set to 1x as seen on this picture:

You can also try adjusting it before playing the podcast episode and if you still don't see this option, it'd be great if you can send us a screenshot of how it looks like on your end so that we can check.

Let us know how it goes.

Why are you necroposting? This is a bug that got fixed ages ago.
