My Question or Issue:

I cant skip to specific parts of a song on Spotify Mobile app. Like I cant scroll forward or backwards to a part I like of my favorite song. There is no pointer. This has been the issue for past 2 months. I tried reinstalling ,clearing the cache and updating the app. Also restarted my phone, but still doesn't work.

To have the ability to seek and select any track within a song, a Spotify Premium subscription is required. This feature allows you to easily navigate to specific parts of a song.

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community. 

 

Could you let us know if you have Premium or if you're using the free service? If you're using the free service, as @ChooseAGoodUsername mentioned, it's currently expected behavior on the mobile app. Since the free tier on mobile has some playback limitations, such as selecting a specific song or listening in a desired order, moving the slider to choose a part of a track is also not currently available for created playlists or albums. However, it's still available in selected playlists created for you, like the Daily Mix or some podcasts as well.

 

However, if you have Premium, you mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a regular one?

Hello there, I don’t have a premium subscription. My friend also doesn’t use a premium but the app is working perfectly fine as before in her mobile and not showing any premium subscription messages. So why is this update working on some devices and not on others?

We’re always testing possible improvements and new features, so your friend might see something on the app that you don't or get a brand-new feature for only a temporary period. hello.is your problem resolved?I am also facing the same problem currently.

I am also going through the same issue. It was working perfectly till an hour ago but now I can't skip through song as you mentioned. Did you found any fix.

were you able to resolve it

I tried everything and im not using premium.I checked on my friends devices too their slider in the app is working, but mine isn't.

No guys the issue isn't resolved yet. And because of this I don't use spotify anymore. I have switched to apple music. You guys can use other apps too. I don't think they will resolve it soon.

I have a premium subscription but no playback controls except for play/pause
