Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We'd like to add some insights. Premium is needed to start and host a Jam, but if your account is on free service, then you can join and add songs to a Jam hosted by a Premium user. This applies for in-person Jams.

Note: You need Premium to join a Jam remotely.

To start a Jam, your friend can follow these steps. For you to join a Jam, you can follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the invitation link sent to you by your friend, or scan the QR code, or bring your phones close together (by up to 1m) if you’re logged in on to Spotify and your Bluetooth is turned on.
  2. Tap Join.
  3. Add tracks, or get started with Spotify recommendations that let you know if others in the Jam like those songs.

If you find issues while trying to join a Jam, please let us know and we'll do our best to help you. You can send us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you're running there.

Keep us in the loop!
