Choosing which accounts can see your playlists

Choosing which accounts can see your playlists

My idea proposes to include a new feature that lets a playlist creator choose who can see their playlist. Almost like having their playlist private from other users but to the chosen accounts, the playlist seems like a public playlist, still appearing on the person's profile and visible in the listening activity bar.

Hey @whatshisface0000,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we'd like to add some insights here. Currently, this is possible if you remove a particular playlist from your profile. If you share the link to it with some specific friends, they'll still have access to your playlist even though it’s not accessible for others who don't have the link to it. You can do this by going to the playlist you want to share> select the three dot-menu> Remove from profile.

You can also try inviting specific friends to be collaborators on your playlist, then setting it as private so it'll hide it from everyone, except from the people you previously invited. Even if the playlist is set as private, only collaborators will be able to access the playlist. You can also see this disclaimer when making a collaborative playlist private:

It's important to mention that after a playlist is set as private, other users won't be able to see the playlist name on the friend's listening activity either. Instead, they will see the album that the song that's playing belongs to.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
