My Question or Issue

Collaborative Playlist,

-I created a list, invited friend to add, doesn't work as described in the FAQ, there wasn't a screen to accept an invite, all the link did was open Spotify.

-He makes a list, invites me, same thing.

-I make sure I am following the playlist on his profile, and the profile.

-Both check and update app, same result.

What am I missing?

Hi there @OmegaChelle42,

Thank you for taking the time to post in the Community.

We just want to start with clarifying that a Blend playlist is different from a Collaborative playlist. You can read more about them here and here.

Can you check out the provided solutions suggested regarding Collaborative playlists here and see if it works?

When it comes to the Blend playlists - can you let us know where you get stuck?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Have a great Friday and start of your weekend 🙂

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

I already stated what I did and where I got "stuck" and told everything that happened.

Created playlist>added friend>sent link>link did nothing but open the Spotify app to the home screen.

Solutions I have found online, but none work to where it functions as a playlist for two curators. I have seen both Blend and Collaborative Playlist options and neither work.

Anything else that needs to be covered again that you can copy and paste something you've already put in other threads?

Hi there @OmegaChelle42,

Thank you for your reply. We're sorry if anything was unclear and if you felt like we repeated something you've already mentioned.

Since it's working on our end we need to know exactly what is happening in order to help. For an example  - can you let us know their device (are they using mobile, desktop)? On another note, have you tried a different device?

Also, how do you share the link (WhatsApp, messenger etc..)?

Keep us posted 🙂

Stated in OP, I am on Android, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I copied the link flat-out and tried to select messenger as the way to share it and it sent the same link, it said 'open.spotify' on the web preview in messenger char windows, so it copied the link to just open spotify, not to actually be in the collaborative/blend link to accept the invitation.

And no, no other device because this is my only device in which to stream music.

Hi @OmegaChelle42!

We'd also like to know what device your friend uses when they open the invite link: It's possible that the link opens the Web Player and as of yet collaborative playlists are not supported there. Still, a dialog box should pop up on the browser tab that prompts the user to run the Spotify app instead (if installed) - clicking on open Spotify should launch it and take the user to the playlist.

In case the issue persists, ask them to try and open the invite link using another device, their phone, for example. Alternatively, they can join the playlist by copying the invite link and pasting it into the app's Search bar.

Hope this info was helpful. Cheers!
