[Community][Developer] Spotify Community Created Extensions

[Community][Developer] Spotify Community Created Extensions

Problem 😭

There are amazing ideas that people really want, People put massive effort into writing them with detail and they get voted by many, but not enough to be considered resulting into frustration from the community. Spotify simply has no time for these little details that go a long way for some people e.g.(Song tag-filter system or drag and drop to Friend Activity to easily share songs with your friends and be exited to log in and have a list of songs shared by your friends in Spotify.)
Solution 💡

There are multiple apps that allow their communities to create extensions like Figma, vs-code, all browsers like google chrome, Microsoft Office and the list goes on and on.
Most of the apps I mentioned are free to use or involve a £6 monthly payment. We are paying a lot more for Spotify and I think it would be fairer if we could have a customised experience that is unique for us. Ideas they think are not good enough would make for someone the perfect app.

It is also convenient for them because they have free collaboration, they can see which extensions are used the most and perhaps buy the ideas from the authors to implement them in the base app. This will also ease their investment in reading about new ideas because now they exist or can be implemented by us.

Spotify wins, The community wins and is more involved.

Hey @rafacast7,

Thanks for reaching out and taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us, we really appreciate it.

We completely understand that everyone uses the app in a different way and ideally, there would be a way to allow for this kind of personalization with some preference settings. The requested features however would still have to be developed first and then maintained. If you'd like to contribute by building those extensions, take a look at our developer showcase where we've shared some existing tools created using our APIs.

We hope this helps. Let us know if there's anything else.

Take care,
