[Connect] Spotify connect not working anymore on yamaha AV RX-V677

[Connect] Spotify connect not working anymore on yamaha AV RX-V677

Hello,

Very recently (less than a week) I noticed Spotify Connect doesn't work anymore on my Yamaha receiver RX-V677. I use Spotify on a Win10 PC, Iphone XS with a premium account. It's been working fine for years. Now AV receiver doesn't appear anymore in my Spotify devices. Firmware seems up-to-date. Last app version on iOS.

Had to disconnect from all my devices recently for security purpose. Could it be related?

Did some Yamaha devices lost their rights to use Spotify Connect?

Tried to check my account settings and Spotify Community but can't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Still can’t find any information on the net.

Anyone having similar issue on their AV receiver?

Did Spotify make any change that could have killed integration on some devices (like they did in 2018 for example)?

Airplay still works but it’s far less convenient than Spotify connect as I must let my iPhone close to the AV receiver in order to have a good connection.

Thanks

Hey there @SteveB19,

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here!

Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this thread. It seems that integration with Spotify Connect has indeed been discontinued for your model. You can check which devices are supported here. We're happy to hear that you've found a workaround that works for you, albeit less convenient.

We'd also recommend posting an idea about bringing back the integration on our Idea Exchange. You can learn how to do this here. The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. You can read more about it here.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted if you have any questions.

I am having the same problem with my Yamaha AV RX-V677.  I can connect through airplay but not directly to the (device) receiver.  What was the fix?

Hi @Sherwhy,

Thank you for posting on this thread!

Could you confirm if you've tried to connect to the Yamaha receivers with different devices?

Since you're connecting from an iOS device, could you also try connecting from an Android device or a PC and letting us know if there's any difference?

Keep us posted.

I tried connecting through my MacBook Pro laptop but never found where to select a device. But I guess since it’s an Apple product as well it would be the same as my phone?

Hi there @Sherwhy,

Thank you for your reply.

You should be able to find the Connect bar on the right side next to your Now playing bar. You can check out the screenshot bellow:

Let us know how it goes 🙂

Take care!

Thanks for your message Jeremy. I clicked the connect bar and do see my receiver as an option but when I click on it, it does nothing. Any other suggestions?
Thanks again!

Hey @Sherwhy,

Thank you for keeping us in the loop!

Can you make sure your receiver's firmware is up to date?

If this doesn't work, can you log in with another account, such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists?

Keep us posted.

I'm having the same issue with my Yamaha AV receiver now. It's been working for years. To simply suggest the product is no longer supported is not good enough and a poor response. The day my AV receiver stops playing spotify permanently is the day I stop paying for my subscription.

Hey @Zollerman,

Welcome to the Community!

Could you let us know what troubleshooting steps you already went through, then we'll see if we can think up some other things to try.

We suggest checking off the steps listed in this support article to start with.

Thanks - Let us know how you get on.

I thought I posted this already but will do so again. The fix for me was to update the firmware on my Yamaha Receiver. Now it works like a charm. Thanks!

I had the issue first of all, so I updated my AV receiver firmware and then it worked. A few days later I tried to use it again and it wasn't working. I've tried powering devices off and on again, running spotify from different devices before connecting (phone and laptop).

I then turned off DHCP on the receiver and set everything statically, and it didn't work. I've now tried to connect my phone and AV receiver to a different network and internet connection and it didn't work.

I'm going to try using a wired ethernet connection next but I'm not hopeful.

I've now reconnected it to the original wifi network and it's working again. Will keep testing it.

Same as above, only on Yamaha RX-V683.

  • Firmware is up to date.
  • I've tried disabling DHCP and defining static IP.
  • Not working on Android phone
  • Not working on mac OS app/ Chrome web player.

Update
Iv'e reseted my password by logging out and clicking forgot password and for some reason it seemed to work! 🤔

Im having this issue now.

the receiver is visible in the surrounding devices list in the app. But the connection drops over and over after only a few seconds  and have to reconnect constantly.

i know it’s not a wifi issue.

Hey @SMeunier1,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

When it comes to receivers, it's important to make sure you have the latest firmware updates installed on them. It is also worth resetting them to their factory settings to see if this brings any change. Such issues are mostly related to the firmware version being out of sync with the Spotify app.

Let us know how that went,

Cheers!
