Connect to a device fails on the first attempt, succeeds on second

Connect to a device fails on the first attempt, succeeds on second

From Spotify, on both my iPhone 14 and MacBook Pros (2015 and 2020 model), when I attempt to change devices and play music from another device, the first time I click on a device, the music switches over and the other device starts to play for less than a second before dropping the connection. Immediately following, the second attempt to change devices succeeds and the music plays successful.

This happens when switching to all devices I have tried it with - Echo Dot, Echo Plus (from the same network and from other networks); and Sonos One speakers (on the same network).

The need for that second connection kills a piece of me a little bit every time. Is there a timeout for something associated with the first connection request? Is the secondary device taking too long to confirm a stable connection?

Hey @mrjb28,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Would it be possible to connect the devices to a hotspot on your phone so we can be sure this is not something related to your router/ISP settings?

Let us know how it goes.
