Connected device keeps defaulting to Web Player (Firefox)

After years of trouble free service my Spotify "Connect to a device" now defaults to "Web Player (Firefox)" and no sound is audible. I have never installed Firefox. If I select another device it plays normally for a couple of seconds then automatically switches back to the Firefox web player and there is no sound audible. I'd be most grateful if anyone has any ideas as to how to stop this.

Hey there @mickderrick,

 

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

 

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

 

Another useful step is to check if Spotify version and device firmware are up to date.
