My Question or Issue

Feature suggestion / clarification.

I had a song in one of my playlists  ("Let Timber Hold" by Dustin Tebbutt). This song has disappeared from Spotify. I suppose it is some sort of licensing change? I've noticed this before with other songs but this was the first one that I had saved to a playlist. Rather than just songs disappearing, it would be helpful to gray out a song and say "this song is no longer available due to [reason, eg, licensing change] " rather than for it to just disappear.

Hey @petebisley

This feature actually exists for desktop clients.

Go to Spotify's Preferences (Ctrl + P, or through the three-dot-menu upper-left) and you'll find a slider under Display Options saying "Show unavailable songs in playlists". Enable it and you should see all the unavailable tracks in your playlists and also albums.

They will all be greyed out. No reason attached though.

Content on Spotify (and other platforms like this) are controlled by the artists and labels/distributors. Sometimes when there are changes in licensing, distribution or other matters, or by artist's decision, content may become unavailable for some time.

I'm not sure if this feature exists for mobile though. Take a look at Settings.
I do know that it's not possible to search for unavailable albums and songs in Spotify.

Hope this helps, have a nice day!
