Embedded Full Player in Home Automation Frontend UI

Have a Family Premium plan, and I'm building a GUI to allow access to my full home automation and media controls, using WinEmb7  touch panel PC clients strewn throughout the house.

I'd really like to embed a version of the Windows Spotify player in my screens, but don't know if it's possible. The framework software I'm using (Indusoft) graphically supports embedding HTML5 widgets,  as well as ActiveX and .NET controls.

Worst case scenario is I embed a WebBrowser control pointing at the Spotify website, but that has all the browser baggage included, which is why I would prefer a standalone control. Plus I really like the layout and usability of the app. Even a mobile version would work, but would need to be Windows. 

Has anyone tried something like this? 

If not, is there a way to send commands to the Spotify app (running in bg) to play/search/save/cast? Perhaps using .aspx or something similar?
