Every other day Spotify can't play any songs on my desktop...

Every other day or every two days, I'll open up my Spotify, click a song, and I'll get this message: "This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

I've tried downloading an older version of Spotify, and that will sometimes work, but as soon as they new version installs again, the problem comes back.

What's most frustrating is that half the time Spotify will work just fine and half the time it does this. This is on my laptop at work and is the free version of Spotify. Would appreciate any advice!

You should uninstall the current version and install again the version that worked for you.

After that, do the following to stop updates:

Go to C:/Users/<Name>/Appdata/Roaming/Spotify

1. Make a new empty text file
2. Name it Spotify_new.exe
3. Right click the file and make the file read only

Spotify will not be able to update because it can't delete the files (they are read only), so all future upgrades will fail.

This method is easy to use and permanent.
