Fire TV stick 2nd gen

My Question or Issue

App will play music for maybe 10 minutes then will crash causing fire stick to completely restart. Have tried clearing cache and data as well as uninstalling and reinstalling. Have checked for updates on both fire tv stick and app. Everything is up to date. I used to play music all the time via the app on my Fire TV and now it’s not working. Not

I've had exactly the same problem. It used to work fine, but a few weeks ago it would shut down and restart the fire stick after a few minutes of playing music. Two replacement fire sticks exhibit the same behaviour. It makes Spotify essentially useless on the fire stick.

I am facing the exact same issue that you have mentioned. I contacted Amazon support for this around 3 months back, they told me that this was because of an unstable Spotify app. 3 months have passed & still no update of the Spotify app that addresses this issue.

Hello Guys,

I have some update to share, Spotify has recently updated their FireTV App to v1.20.0 on 4th Oct.

1. On 5th of Oct I had an hour long chat with Spotify Support team, we were trying to diagnose the problem and we tried a lot of combinations & scenarios but the app kept crashing. The chat ended on a note that there seems to be a problem with the FireTV app. Although I was not given an estimate till when the bug would be fixed.

2. Yesterday I reset my FireTV and tried Spotify again but the app still crashed. Although then I noticed something strange, that if I start a song on Spotify and come to Home screen it does not crash. In other words if I play a song on Spotify and press the Home button the song continues to play in the background and the app does not crash but eventually the FireTV goes into sleep mode.

So, I just wanted to share new developments since I last posted my comment, hope it helps you’ll.

How did you get hold of their support team? What's the contact info?

There are two ways that I know.

First being the obvious, email address that is mentioned in Spotify FireTV App.

Second is this "https://support.spotify.com/in/contact-spotify-support" just select the options relevant to you and at last fill in the form to start the chat with their support team.

Thanks. I contacted them and they suggested that I use a test account to see if I would have the same problem. I did and the same thing happened. So I guess I have to contact them again.

I have the same issue.

Incredible, more people have the same problems, but nothing has been done in last months.
Dear Spotify, do you have going to do something?

please can spotity and amazon work together to solve this issue?

Greetings

I am a bit late to this topic but boy does it apply to what is happening now with my Amazon Fire Stick. I do not have a spotify app, but I have other apps, and two were music that would spontaneouosly turn off.

At first they both worked great. Then, after almost a year SiriusXM would turn off, it got worse and worse, turning off after five minutes. They were no help nor was Amazon so I cancelled the subscription.

Now I have iHeart for the music, and during the free trial it worked great. two days after the trial ended it started turning off, completely, exiting the app to the firestic home screen,

DOES anyone know what causes this? On whose end is it? I think it is amazon -- the sleep kicks in after 20 minutes of inactivity, I read I turned off the screen saver hoping that would help.

I do not have the spotify app, in fact, I don't even recall having signed up for Spotify, but under my "account" it says I signed up in 2013. Is that possible? Has spotify been around that long?

There are those who hack and like to cause trouble.

Has anyone considered tthat?  Considering one can mess with firestick through the wi-fi, or through Amazon or through the individual app like Sirius.

Any help is appreciated. Has anyone gotten the issuse fixed?

Hello Gina,

Let me start by saying that I feel sad to hear that you are facing issues with two of your music apps, but this forum is meant for Spotify related topics. Nevertheless I would like to try and answer your queries one by one.

1. In my knowledge the issue mentioned in this forum topic was not because of Amazon Fire Stick but rather a faulty Spotify update. You could check your Fire TV’s Sirius & iHeart app versions and time, and whether if it coincides with the issue.
2. Your Fire Stick going into sleep mode is normal, although it should not while playing music, you should contact you app providers and explain to them this issue.
3. Yes Spotify was there in 2013, it was launched in 2008, although I can’t explain you having an account.
4. I am not sure whether Fire stick can be hacked over a Wi-Fi, may be it can… I don’t know. If you have your doubts then try and factory reset your Fire Stick and change your Wi-Fi Password, and make sure it’s not an easy password to guess or break into.
5. Lastly the Spotify shutting down issue has been fixed for me, and I suppose for all the others on this topic as there have not been any new topic updates lately apart from yours.

Hope your app issues get resolved soon, because music is indispensable especially considering the sh*t happening all around us.

I'm so sorry readers misunderstood. Yes I know this is for Spotify, but
because the problem was similar - music app shutting down - I thought there
might be a common thread. I thought to answer the inevitable questions I had
to explain the issue well.

This has n othing to do with Spotify I do not have a paid for or free
service.

Thanks anyway, it is a shame I did not add this qualifier so people wouldn't
assume I meant this had anyting to do with Spotify.
