My Question or Issue

Whenever i try to remove 1 specific song from my offline backup, it fails to actually get removed and instead just stays in there. i can remove other songs, but this one song stays no matter what. I've already closed the app twice over, and it did not work.

the screen recording down below is the proof of it.

Hey @yologuy231,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We really appreciate the time you took to send us the video. We couldn't replicate this behavior on our side. In this case, we'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device to make sure you're running the latest version and that the stored cache is not leading to this behavior. You can follow the steps here to do it.

Note: Keep in mind reinstalling the app will remove all the content you've downloaded to listen to offline.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The make/model and exact OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running.
  • We notice you look for the song on the search bar. Does this happen if you locate the song within the list by scrolling?
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Keep us in the loop!

Hello AlejaR,

the same thing happens if i remove the song from the list by scrolling. the only reason i searched for it was to make it easier to find, as removing a song from the list will make the list jump around a bit, even if this song doesnt disappear. this is also the first time i removed songs from the list, and it is the only song that i wanted to remove that i couldn't.

my OS is iOS 18.4.1, and its a iphone 13 with model number MLPG3ZD/A.

my spotify version is 9.0.36.556.

preferably i'd not clear my cache to wipe the list, but if there is no other solution i am willing to do it

Hey there @yologuy231,

Thanks for your reply and for keeping us in the loop.

You can also try to log out and log in twice in a row onto your Spotify account. This could sound a little bit odd, but this way the system will force a resync of your account in general. After that, if you see that song again, try removing it.

Additionally, you can also make sure you're running the latest version of the app available on the App Store. Just look for Spotify there and, if a new version is available, you'll see the button for updating it.

We understand where you're coming from, but, if the above doesn't do the trick, keep in mind that clean reinstalling the app (and clearing the stored cache in the process), can solve most common issues. We know this is not ideal, as reinstalling the app might result in the offline backup playlist being empty for a while, but as long as you listen to content as usual, you'll see the backup again.

We did not receive recent reports along the same lines, so we highly recommend trying the above and check in the coming hours how it goes. Make sure to actively explore your music as well.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies!
