I've got a follower but my playlists aren't public

I've got a follower but my playlists aren't public

I don't want my playlists to be public but from nowhere I've got a follower. I don't want followers and I don't want anyone to see my playlists! Under Preferences > Privacy and > PlaylistsI have everything UNchecked except "Scrobble to LAST FM". If I right-click the playlist that got the follower it says "Make public" as an option, suggesting that the playlist is, correctly, not public - but if so, where did the follower come from? How did they even see the list? [I do not know this person].

I realise that this is unusual in a world of total sharing but I value my privacy!

Merry Christmas

Hi there!

Playlists aren't needed in order to follow someone.

you can find out if it's an error of spotify via the emails:

e.g. when someone would follow your playlist: your email would say something like follows your playlist (1)

otherwise:

perhaps your new follower has found you from somewhere else and just tried also on spotify if it's the same person and added you here

(1) my emails are in German, so I don't know the exact phrase
