Is it legal to download Audio Previews from Spotify for research purposes?

Dear all,

I would be interested in downloading Audio Previews from Spotify for Developers in order to study explainability in terms of audios (working only on Spotify generated features wouldn't work) in recommender systems. My plan would be to fetch the previews of the tracks my participants liked, process them using a machine learning algorithm and then highlight/isolate the part of the audio signal which contributed the most to the preference prediction. I think that using only Spotify provided features would be a limitation of the approach, especially because it goes outside the scope of audio data.
